Read Chemical Engineering at Peterhouse, Cambridge University, graduating in 1985.


A chartered engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. Specialises in mathematics, sciences and engineering, as well as guidance on applying to UK Universities.

Aiden G. - MEng

Specialises in mathematics, sciences and engineering, as well as guidance on applying to Oxbridge.

Alex

Alex B.

Since graduating from the University of Oxford with a degree in English Literature in 2012, Alex has worked in a variety of roles in the education sector as a teacher, tutor, and educational consultant. He has taught English and Drama at an Eton group public school and has worked as a residential private tutor in the UK and overseas, at locations including Oxford, Cambridge, Moscow, and Shanghai, where he lived for two years.


Alex has dealt with students of all ages from six to eighteen and has extensive experience of working with students with Special Educational Needs and with students for whom English is a second language. He specialises in humanities subjects and is currently working towards an Interdisciplinary PhD in Theatre and Drama at Northwestern University. He also holds an MA with Distinction in Text and Performance from the University of London and is a qualified TEFL teacher.

Alexandra

Alexandra C. P.

Alexandra is a second-year student reading Biological Natural Sciences at Cambridge University. She teaches GCSE and A-level specialising in Sciences (Biology and Chemistry) and English tuition. She also handles Oxbridge applications and school entrance preparation. During her degree, she has taken a paper in Social and Developmental Psychology and has extensive knowledge of children’s cognitive development. She is able to bring this expertise to her teaching to ensure all the material is understood. She is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese at the native speaker level.

Alison

Alison W.

Alison specialises in the Japanese Language and holds a first-class honours degree in Translation, Media and Modern Language Studies with a year abroad in Japan at Meiji University. She was awarded The Japanese Prize for the best performance in the final assessment of any Language and Communication Studies degree that includes Japanese Honours Language and also The Yakult Award for achieving 100% attendance over the course of study. She also achieved N1 level in the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) in 2019 which is the highest level.


Alison is fluent in Japanese, English, Cantonese, and Mandarin Chinese.

Anthony

Anthony W.

Anthony is a Chartered Institute of Marketing and MBA qualified marketer currently working in international education.


He read Modern and Medieval Languages at Jesus College, University of Cambridge and has spent time studying and working abroad in Spain, Russia and Catalonia. He’s passionate about education, supporting young people and social mobility, and has supported numerous initiatives and charities in these areas.


He specialises in Spanish, French, Russian, Catalan, English as a foreign language and guidance on applying to UK universities.

Caroline

Caroline B.

Culture and Conversation Specialist.


Ann and Caroline first met in April 1994 when Ann employed her as her Social Activities and Sports Assistant at Studio, Cambridge.


Caroline speaks French and has twice spent time living in France. The first time for 8 years and recently for 18 months, returning in December 2020.


She has extensive experience in guiding day and weekend trips to cultural and historical attractions in the UK and France.

Chikashi

Chikashi S.

Mathematics and Statistics Specialist.


Oxford Graduate who arrived in the UK from Tokyo in 2012 to do (I)GCSEs and then A-Levels.


Chikashi is well aware of the challenges international students face when accessing the rubric and vocabulary required in examination questions, making him an ideal mentor in Mathematics. He is very clear in explaining the steps needed to be successful in assessments. He is interested in AI and is currently exploring the possibilities of doing a PhD in this area.

Heidi

Heidi C.

Currently reading Japanese Studies at Emmanuel College, Cambridge University. This has included a one year study period at Hokkaido University.


Heidi is passionate about the Japanese Language and has passed JLPT N3.

Helene

Helene P. - MA Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales

A practising solicitor in the City of London (specialising in Financial Services). Specialises in law and in cultural aspects of London, particularly theatre, art, museums and sightseeing.


Read Law at Robinson College, Cambridge University, graduating in 1983.


Jeni

Jeni

Jeni graduated in Linguistics from York University, specialising in French and Chinese language. Afterwards she spent a year at the Beijing Language and Culture University and more recently another year at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, improving her Mandarin. She also lived for 11 years in Hong Kong where she learned some Cantonese and was fully immersed in the Chinese community. She therefore understands the cultural difficulties that a student can face where trying to settle in to a new country. As a linguist, Jeni can understand the problems encountered by students when learning a new language and is able to help from a phonological and structural perspective.

John S. -MA MPhil (Cantab)

Specialises in Economics, Mathematics, Business, Oxbridge Entrance, entry to Independent Schools. and University applications.


Read Economics and Management Studies at Wolfson College, Cambridge University, graduating in 2007, and took a graduate degree in 2008 reading Industrial Systems and Management at Darwin College, Cambridge University.

Julie

Julie H. - B.Ed (Hons), M.Phil (Cantab)

Julie read History and Education at Homerton College, Cambridge and holds an M.Phil in HIstory of Education from King's College, Cambridge.


Julie specialises in Academic Coaching, TEFL and supporting students with learning challenges. She was a Senior Housemistress and Head of Boarding for over ten years and has expert knowledge in that area. She has expertise in counselling and pastoral support and has had great success integrating students new to boarding, into schools. Julie is focussed on students being able to thrive and will help them gain confidence and resiliance so they can flourish both academically and socially.


Her expertise includes interview preparation, support with preparing personal statements and study skills.

Mary T.

Read English Literature and Language at Oxford University, graduating in 2016 with a First Class BA.


Completed an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Manchester, with a distinction. Awarded the PFD prize for best dissertation.


Specialises in English Literature, English Language and Philosophy and Ethics. Also provides guidance for personal statements and applying to universities.

Oliver

Oliver C. - MEng, BA

STEM Specialist.


A recent Cambridge graduate who read Chemical Engineering.


As an international student, Oli fully understands the cultural, language, and academic challenges that you might be facing. He can provide tutoring on STEM subjects, individual support (academic and cultural), and Oxbridge interview preparation, in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

Quinn

Quinn C.

Quinn has had a varied career working with young people, over 30 years, in both teaching and youth work arenas, that has led to over 20 years of leadership experience. A successful teaching career began working in a specialist SEN provision and continued to develop within this field. While in schools he worked with students that have behavioural and emotional needs, providing excellent support to the individual and their families as well as developing robust systems to enhance school provision.


Over the last fifteen years he has led several teams through Ofsted with outstanding success. He has had key roles in senior leadership teams, SDP in safeguarding as well as dealing complex issues to ensuring the best possible outcomes, for all those involved. In 2014 he set up a consultancy to provide support for schools, in particular failing schools. Structures, policies and ethos are a key focus for school leadership as well as training for school staff. Quinn is keen to see all stakeholders work together for the betterment of the young people and their communities.

Zara

Zara J. - PhD FIBMS

STEM and English for Academic Purposes Specialist.


Zara has over 20 years’ experience teaching EFL and English for Academic Purposes, and over 15 years’ scientific research experience. She also has a background in linguistics and natural sciences, a proven record of communicating complex concepts clearly and succinctly, and a highly professional approach incorporating excellent organisational and inter-personal skills.

Michael W., BA (Hons)

Michael has recenty graduated with a BA in Japanese Studies from Oxford Brookes University and is currently working in Japan as a Teaching Assistant, teaching English. He is a fluent Japanese speaker and can support students to learn English.


Michael is a passionate advocate and practitioner of Karate and holds a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. He has competed internationally with Karate England, which has included training in Japan. He is currently expanding his expertise in MMA.

Natsuko N. BA (Hons)

Natsuko holds a BSc in Physics from the University of York and then read a Master's Degree in Playwriting, also at York. She holds the Advanced TEFL Certificate from the TEFL Institute, Ireland.


Natsuko is a native Japanese speaker and can help support students from Japan, who wish to come to the UK to study, and is a link with Japanese parents of students studying, or planning to study, in the UK.


Natsuko has been part of the CLASS family since 2016. 

Dido

Dido O. - BA MPhil

Specialises in English, Primary stage education and preparation applying to UK schools. Tutor at Cambridge English CLASS.


Read Primary Education with English Specialism at Reading University, followed by a Masters in Critical Approaches to Children's Literature at Downing College, Cambridge University, graduating in 2017.


Dido pursued her passions for Children's Literature, Art and Design by subsequently becoming a Marketing Designer in children's publishing. Throughout her studies and working life she has continued teaching in Primary and Secondary school settings, as well as 1-1 tutoring weekly and in intensive blocks. Shehas been working with CLASS since 2015.
